Collections, galleries, and groups

Three different ways to keep and organise work. They're easy to mix up, so here's what each one is for.

Collections: save work you like​

A collection is your own list of saved pieces, yours or anyone else's. It's how you keep work you want to come back to.

  • Liking a post saves it to your Liked collection automatically, so your likes are already a running list.
  • Choose Save to collection on any post to file it into a collection you've made, like "Reference" or "Colour I love". A post can sit in more than one.
  • Collections can be public or private. On the free plan you can keep one private collection; artbase Pro removes that limit.

Your collections live on your profile under the Collections tab.

Galleries: organise your own posts​

A gallery is for sorting your own work into named sets, the way you might use folders. If you post landscapes and portraits, you can split them into a "Landscapes" gallery and a "Portraits" gallery so visitors can find what they came for.

  • Galleries show up as a strip along the top of your profile's Posts tab.
  • You can only add your own posts to a gallery, and a post can be in several.
  • Galleries can be public or private, and you can reorder the work inside them.

The difference in one line: collections hold work you've saved from anywhere; galleries organise work you made.

Groups: communities​

A group is a shared space built around a subject, a style, or just a group of people. Each group has:

  • Home - the group's activity.
  • Gallery - work members submit, which the group's curators approve into featured sets.
  • Discussions - threads and polls.
  • Events - things the group runs.
  • Chat - live conversation.
  • Members - who's in.

Joining a group​

How you get in depends on the group:

  • Open groups you can join straight away.
  • Request to join groups review your request first, sometimes with a question or two.
  • Invite-only groups you join with an invite.

You can also follow a group without joining, to get its activity in your feed.

Roles​

Groups have a few roles that decide who can do what, from member up through curators and moderators to admins and the owner. Curators handle the gallery submissions; moderators and admins look after people and discussions.
