Exploring artbase

How to find work and people worth following, and the different ways to browse.

Your feeds

The home feed comes in a few flavours:

  • For You learns from what you like, view, follow, and skip, and shows work it thinks you'll want to see. If something isn't for you, choose see less and For You leans away from it.
  • Following is the newest work from the people you follow, most recent first.
  • Trending is what's getting the most attention lately.

Brand new and haven't followed anyone yet? For You shows a general mix until it has something to go on.

Following artists

When you find someone whose work you like, choose Follow on their profile or from one of their posts. Their new work then shows up in your Following feed and feeds into For You. Unfollowing asks you to confirm, so you won't drop someone by accident.

Likes and comments

  • Like a post to show you like it. Liking also saves it to your collection, so your likes double as a running list of work you want to keep (more in Collections, galleries, and groups).
  • Comment to talk to the artist and other people looking at the piece.

Search and tags

Use search to find work by title, artist, or tag. Every post carries tags for its subject and style, and selecting a tag shows you more work tagged the same way. Tags are the main way work gets discovered, both in search and in For You.

Writing

Writing is a catalog just for stories and long reads, laid out like a shelf of book jackets. Browse by genre using the pills along the top. It's open to everyone, signed in or not. See Uploading your work to post your own.

Daily Draw

Daily Draw is a shared prompt that changes every day. Everyone draws to the same prompt, and the day's page collects what people made. You can submit for today or yesterday, and stepping back through the day navigator shows earlier prompts and their galleries. Daily Draw is a feature the team can switch on and off, so it may not always be showing.

Draw boards

Draw is a shared canvas you and other people can draw on together in real time. You can invite people by username (as drawers or view-only), share a board with a link, or make it public so anyone can join. When a board's finished, you can publish the canvas as a normal post. Like Daily Draw, Draw is a feature that can be switched on and off.
